Some might question the use of rattle-can paint. Initially I was going to take it to Maaco (a cheap painting chain) during one of their periodic sales, but the Mog with crane was too large for their paint booth.
As I had decided that I wanted the crane removable, my thought then was that after I got the crane off I'd take it back and get it painted then. However, I found I needed professional help getting the crane off, which ended up costing a stunning amount of money. (I am too embarassed to admit how much I spent, and the mistakes I made that led me to that point.) Reeling, I decided that even a Maaco paint job cost too much. So, rattlecans it was.
At least paint damage will be easy to fix!
The grille on a lot of Mogs is less attractive than I think it should be. So I spent a little extra time and painted the grille black, and I painted the trim silver. (It was all nasty, and the original finish wasn't worth preserving.) I think it looks pretty sharp, even though it generally hides behind the winch.
