The nightmare that was the new USB/Firewire card seems to be over,
it's now working so the endless cycle of reinstall and reboot can end.
(Needed DiskWarrior to clean up the boot volume so that a fresh OS
reinstall [the last of many] would actually work properly.)

Screen froze after waking it up via keyboard. No mouse, no keyboard
reaction, no password window. (Did this after printing to the network
printer from the G5 for the first time. Probably coincidence. A drive
had been mapped to one of the Pismos for some days now, that seems
more likely.)
