'Tis the season, and we set out to find a cull fir from our small acreage to serve as a Christmas tree. My wife was all ready to walk, witness our son bundled to death, but I was determined to use the Unimog for transport. Not because I had to, it was really more of an excuse to start it.

We drove out the driveway to the road (which splits our property) and moseyed on down to the other corner, in second gear. No rush, you see. When we got to the site, I stopped and looked off to the left at the small embankment, and cranked the wheel over and shifted to first and 4wd. My wife squawks something appropriate to not being happy about an unexpected offroad trip. (Honey, we're in a Unimog. Unexpected?) As we started to creep through the ditch and up the bank I locked the differentials. No problem, it just walked right up.

This is fun!

We found our tree, and grabbed some other greenery as well. I thinned some of the pines from around the few firs while I was at it. No major chore though, we didn't have time to do much.

Oddly enough, my wife chose to wait while I backed back down to the road.
